Broken website? We can fix it
White screen, missing styles, dead forms, 404s on real pages. Whatever is broken, there is a recognisable cause and a working fix.
01 / What probably happened
Here is the usual story
Most broken websites break for one of three reasons: an automatic update went wrong (a plugin, a theme, the PHP version), a credential expired (an SSL certificate, an API key, a payment method), or someone touched a file they should not have. In every case, the fix exists, it is just hiding behind some logs and some patience.
If you tell us the URL, we can usually identify which of these is wrong within fifteen minutes. We do not need any logins to give you the diagnosis. We only need access if you want us to actually do the repair.
Resist the urge to start clicking 'reinstall' or 'reset' on things until somebody who can read the error has looked. Reinstalling is sometimes the right move, but it is also the move most likely to take a half-broken site and make it fully broken.
02 / What we actually fix
The most common breakages
These are the things we see most often. If your problem is in here, we have done it before.
Diagnose the white screen of death
A blank white page almost always means a PHP fatal error, usually after a plugin update or PHP version change. Server logs hold the answer. We read them, find the offending file, and either patch it or roll it back.
Restore missing styling
If the site loads but looks like a 1995 text document, the CSS file is failing to load. Usually a wrong path, a CDN outage, a broken theme update or a mixed-content block. We trace it and fix the source.
Fix forms that silently fail
Forms that 'send' but never arrive are the worst kind of broken because nobody notices for weeks. We test the actual delivery path, check spam folders and DNS records, and wire up a confirmation step that proves it works.
Repair 404s on real pages
Pages that worked yesterday and 404 today usually mean a permalink change, a broken redirect rule, or a deleted file. We work through your URL list and put every legitimate URL back where it should be.
Resolve mixed content warnings
If the padlock is missing or visitors see 'not secure', the site is loading some assets over http and some over https. We track down the offending references in the database and templates and clean them up properly.
Catch broken images and links
Once the urgent thing is fixed, we sweep the whole site for missing images, dead outbound links and orphaned pages. The visible breakage is rarely the only breakage.
03 / How we handle it
Our repair sequence
Triage
We load the site, read the actual error, check the server logs, and tell you what is broken in one sentence. No guessing, no diagnostics theatre.
Stabilise
If the breakage is visible to customers, we put up a temporary fix or holding page within the hour. The forms still send, the phone still rings.
Fix
We do the real repair: rolling back a bad update, restoring a corrupted file, rewriting a broken template, or replacing a misbehaving plugin with something that does not break.
Prevent
We add monitoring that catches the next break in minutes, run automatic backups, and put the site on infrastructure where updates do not silently destroy things.
FAQ
Common questions
I cannot tell what is wrong with the site. Will you take a look?
Yes. Send us the URL and we will tell you within an hour what is broken, how serious it is, and roughly what fixing it involves. The diagnosis is free, no obligation, no sales call unless you want one.
Can you fix a broken WordPress site, even if you did not build it?
Yes. We take on broken WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and custom-built sites we have never seen before. Most fixes are recognisable patterns once you know where to look.
What if the site is too far gone?
Sometimes the right answer is a clean rebuild on a stable foundation rather than patching something held together with tape. We will tell you honestly which it is. If we rebuild, we keep your content, your URLs and your search rankings.
How long does a typical fix take?
Small fixes (broken styling, a single failing form, a misconfigured redirect) are usually done within the day. A serious failure requiring a database restore or rebuild can take a few days. We give you a clear estimate up front.
Will my SEO be affected by the downtime?
A short outage of a few hours is barely noticed by Google. A site that is broken or returning errors for days will start to see ranking impact. The faster you fix it the less you have to recover, which is why getting an answer in the first hour matters.
Do I need to keep my old hosting?
Not necessarily. If your hosting is part of the problem, moving to better infrastructure is usually quicker than fighting the existing setup. We handle the migration so there is no downtime in the switch.
