A better alternative to GoDaddy web design

A custom-built UK alternative to GoDaddy web design, with one monthly fee instead of a basket of renewals.

01 / Why people leave GoDaddy

GoDaddy is great at acquisition. Less great at the next three years.

GoDaddy is the place a lot of UK small businesses end up by accident. You buy a domain for £1, the upsell flow nudges you into the website builder, the builder hands you an auto-generated layout, and twelve months later you are paying for hosting, email, SSL and a renewed domain on four different cards from one company you have stopped enjoying.

The site itself is fine. It works, it loads, it has the right phone number on the contact page. But it looks generic, the layouts are clearly assembled rather than designed, and every change is your job because the support team are not the people who built it.

We are the alternative for businesses that want a real designer, real hosting, and one bill instead of five. We migrate off GoDaddy cleanly, transfer the domain to a registrar you control, and look after the site monthly so you never have to log into GoDaddy again unless you want to.

02 / What changes after the switch

Six things that work differently

Honest comparison. GoDaddy is huge for a reason. We do a different shape of work.

Custom design, not auto-generated layouts

GoDaddy's website builder leans heavily on AI-assembled layouts. They are quick to spin up but they tend to look generic because the underlying parts are shared across millions of small business sites. We design from a blank canvas every time.

No upsell carousel

GoDaddy is famous for the checkout where you start with a £1 domain and end with a £200 basket of add-ons. Our pricing is one number a month and the only thing in the basket is a website that has been designed for your business.

Hosting that does not get sold separately

On GoDaddy, hosting and email and SSL and backups all live on different products with different renewal cycles. With us, all of that is bundled into the same monthly fee. One bill, one provider, one team.

A real person on the other end

GoDaddy support is a call centre. It works, but it is not someone who knows your site. With us, the same person who designed the site is the one in the chat when you need a change, which makes the answers faster and the changes better.

Migration off GoDaddy

We pull your content out, redesign the site, transfer the domain to a registrar you control, set up email forwarding and redirects. You stop paying GoDaddy and your URL keeps working without a customer noticing.

Honest about GoDaddy

GoDaddy is enormous because they are good at acquiring customers and good at hosting domains. Their website builder is fine for someone who wants something live this afternoon and is not picky. If that is not you, the alternative makes sense.

03 / How the migration runs

From GoDaddy stack to one bill

01

Audit the GoDaddy stack

We work out what you actually have on GoDaddy: domain, builder site, email, hosting, anything else. Some of it stays, some of it goes.

02

Design and build

We hand-design a new site around your business and build it on modern infrastructure. You sign off a clickable preview before any production work.

03

Migrate the domain

We transfer the domain to a registrar you control, set up email forwarding so business email keeps working, and put redirects in place from old URLs.

04

Launch and look after

Live on our hosting. From then on, ongoing changes via the portal and you can stop logging into GoDaddy entirely if you want to.

FAQ

Common questions

Why move off GoDaddy web design?

Two reasons usually do it. First, the auto-generated layouts make sites look generic, and that hurts conversion when a stranger lands cold from Google. Second, the GoDaddy bill turns out to be five line items by year three, and consolidating into a single monthly fee removes the surprise renewals.

Can I keep my GoDaddy domain?

Yes. We can either leave the domain registered with GoDaddy and just point it at the new site, or transfer it to a registrar you control and consolidate everything in one place. Either works. Most clients prefer to transfer so they can stop logging into GoDaddy at all.

What about my GoDaddy email?

If you use GoDaddy's Workspace email, we recommend moving to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 because they do email better. We can also set up free email forwarding from your domain to an existing inbox if a full email account is more than you need.

Is your alternative more expensive than GoDaddy?

Sometimes yes on the headline, but often cheaper across a year once you add up the GoDaddy renewals: domain, hosting, builder plan, email, SSL, premium add-ons. £79/month covers a hand-built site and all of the bits GoDaddy bills separately.

Will moving away from GoDaddy break my email or domain?

No, not if it is done properly. We sequence the migration so the domain points correctly, the email forwards before the cutover, and there is no window where the URL is dead or the inbox is silent. Customers do not notice anything has changed except that the site looks different.

What does the new hosting look like?

Modern edge infrastructure with UK presence, daily backups, automatic SSL, uptime monitoring and a real human in the loop. None of which you ever have to configure or pay separately for. It just runs.

Ready to consolidate?

Start free. We will redesign the site, migrate the domain, and put the whole stack on one monthly bill.
